Introduction to CIE

The College of Information Engineering (CIE) of Northwest A&F University, now has 92 faculty members, including 62 doctors and 25 masters. Among them, there are 9 Professors and 37 Associate Professors. Teachers with senior professional titles, with Doctoral or Master’s degrees, respectively account for 50% and 96.4% of faculty members. Zhao Chunjiang, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, is appointed as our "Academic Dean". Among those eminent teachers, there is 1 expert who is granted special government allowance, 1 selected as one of the Outstanding Teachers of Shaanxi Province "Special Support Program", 2 BaoGang Excellent Teachers, 1 Tang Lixin Famous Teachers, 2 Part-time Professors, 4 Visiting Professors, and 2 awarded the First Gold Medal Teacher Rookie Award.

The CIE consists of 5 undergraduate majors: Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering, Data Science and Big Data Technology, Information Management and Information System, and E-Commerce. Among them, Software Engineering is a National First-class Undergraduate Major Construction Site. There are more than 1300 undergraduates. The College has 1 Provincial Computer Experiment Teaching Demonstration Center, 1 School-level Virtual Reality Teaching Experiment Center, 1 Professional Laboratory (with 6 Functional Laboratories) and 1 Cloud Computing Platform. The CIE has actively carried out teaching reform research, with 1 Provincial Talent Training Mode Innovation Experimental Area, 1 Provincial Teaching Team and 2 School-level Teaching Teams. In recent years, it has led over 105 Provincial-level New Engineering Projects and Teaching Reform Projects. It has won 12 Provincial-level Teaching Achievement Awards, 1 National-level High-quality Course, 1 National First-class Undergraduate Course, 3 Provincial First-class Undergraduate Courses, 1 Provincial Model Course on the Ideological and Political Dimension, and 9 Provincial & School-level High-quality courses. We have 10 online courses such as MOOC, more than 20 teaching materials of chief editor and deputy editor, and 8 award-winning textbooks.

The CIE has Agricultural Information Engineering Secondary Discipline Doctoral Degree Authorization Station, Computer Science and Technology First-level Discipline Master’s Degree Authorization Station, Electronic Information Secondary Discipline Master’s Degree Authorization Station, 2 Full-time Professional Degree Authorization Stations in Agricultural Informatization and Electronic Information, among which Computer Science Discipline ranks the Global Top 1% of the ESI. The CIE has 9 doctoral supervisors, 31 master supervisors and 350 graduate students. The college has carried out scientific research in intelligent computing and agricultural information systems, intelligent media processing, and agricultural information acquisition technology. In recent years, the College has undertaken over 150 national, provincial and ministerial-level projects, with a total funding of about 18 million yuan. We have published more than 300 academic papers and registered over 60 computer software copyrights. There are 22 invention patents and 13 utility model patents approved.

The College of Information Engineering cooperates with many universities or companies in the USA, Japan, Canada and Australia. In recent years, 27 elite teachers and over 40 graduates have been sent to pursue further studies or degrees abroad, and over 20 undergraduates have been sent to Japan for paid trainings.
