The two teams of the Deep Learning Sci-Tech Innovation Group are consisting of Jiang Peng, Xie Xiaoyue, Ma Yuan, Tian Liang Liang, Ding Zefeng and Yang Danni, the two teams participated in the 2019 China College Computer Contest - Artificial Intelligence Creativity Competition Grand Final, and both teams won the National Second Prize with a prize of ¥20,000. as reported by School news, Faculty news and Faculty new media. Deep Learning Sci-Tech Innovation Group - Jiang Peng, Chen Yuehan, Ding Zefeng, Tan Cheng, won second place in the Northwest Competition Region of the 2019 Future Cup College AI Challenge and entered the National Finals. Tian Liangliang, Zhang Yun, Qiu Jiyan and Xie Xiaoyue won the Excellence Award in the Northwest Competition Region, as reported by the school news2019.04.18

Research Status

My research interests mainly focus on Parallel Computing, Deep Learning and Crop Pests and Diseases Diagnosis, Cloud Computing and Agricultural Big Data.

 

In recent years, I have published 22 papers in the Journal of Supercomputing, High Performance Computing and Communications and other important international journals and high-level academic conferences, as the first author or corresponding author.

 

Among them, there are 10 SCI papers (7 in CAS Zone21 in CCF-C, and 1 in ESI 2017),10 EI papers (6 in CCF-C). And I have published 4 SCI papers and 4 EI papers as the co-author.

 

In addition, I serve as the reviewer of prestigious journals, such as IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, Future Generation Computer Systems, The Journal of Supercomputing, IEEE Trans. on Computers, Computers and Electronics in Agriculture, Smart Agriculture, and the reviewer of international conferences such as ISPA and HPCC.

Areas of Research Interests/ Research Projects

1. Deep Learning and Crop Pest and Disease Diagnosis

This study aims to identify and monitor pests and diseases of crops (apples, kiwis, grapes, etc.). The research summarizes the characteristics and rules of crop pests and disease identification through image processing technology, applies deep convolutional neural network models to the field of crop pests and disease identification, and establishes a prediction model suitable for crop disease diagnosis. Research focuses on deep learning-based target detection algorithms such as SSD, Faster RCNN and YOLO, and proposes a neural network model that balances accuracy and instant detection requirements for real-time pest and disease monitoring and early warning. Research concentrates on deep learning-based image segmentation algorithms.

2. Deep Learning Parallel Algorithm

Parallel Algorithm is a method and procedure for solving a problem jointly by using multiple processors. The execution process runs as follows:

 

First, it decomposes a given problem into a number of sub-problems that are as independent of each other as possible. Second, it uses multiple computers to solve it simultaneously. Third, it finally seeks out the solution to the original problem.

 

The group addresses the problem of poor parallelism in deep learning algorithms and conducts research on algorithm parallelization for multi-core/crowd-core platforms. Common parallel programming models (Python, CUDA and MPI) are studied to explicitly construct parallel deep learning algorithms, improve&deep parallel algorithm acceleration ratio performance, and improve the acceleration ratio performance of algorithms.

3. Cloud computing and Agricultural Big Data

To address the problem of massive image data generated by various data collections in modern agriculture, research on big data processing methods based on cloud computing technology is carried out. The research focuses on distributed storage and retrieval techniques for large-scale image data. The research concentrates on parallelization techniques for large-scale image data processing algorithms.
